We hosted two fantastic Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) workshops for the LEGACY project in February.
We heard from 16 representatives who shared their experiences and perspectives to help shape the design of our project.
LEGACY stands for “Lynch Evaluation for Genetic Analysis and Cascade testing in Years past”. This project involves retrospective traceback genetic testing aimed at identifying Lynch syndrome in patients who have/had endometrial cancer. We aim to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, patient outcomes and economic evaluation of the traceback approach for identifying high risk individuals for cancer prevention.
Based on the workshop we have refined the wording of the invitation letters, developed a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, and updated our plans for how we offer patients support and information during the project.
It was a wonderful experience for our team and we look forward to working with PPI again!
